On 26th May 2020, the Ambassador of Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing, H.E. Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot, his wife Madam Kamoltip Srisamoot, and the Minister Counselor Mrs. Donlaporn Ajavavarakula together with the delegation were invited to visit Great Wall Motors (GWM). Mr. Wei Jianjun, Chairman of GWM, VP Mr. Liu Xiangshang, VP Mr. Meng Xiangjun, VP Mr. Zhang Jiaming accompanied.

Ambassador H.E. Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot and the delegation first visited Xushui plant of GWM. As the outstanding performer among intelligent plants in China, with a high-speed test track surrounding the base and the vehicle development R&D test field, Xushui plant is one of the few plants integrating R&D, test drive and production. Ambassador H.E. Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot and the delegation, conducted a test drive in the professional field with great interest and gave a very high evaluation on the technology of the piloted driving.

Afterwards, the delegation visited brand exhibition area of the WEY, HAVAL and ORA in R&D Center and experienced the intelligent connectivity technology that was truly born for the future unmanned driving. In addition, Ambassador H.E. Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot focused on visiting the labs of wind tunnel, environment simulation, NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness), etc. The wind tunnel lab, which is mentioned, is equipped with one of the biggest nozzle areas among Chinese automotive brands.

Mr. Wei Jianjun said, “Thailand's automobile market has a promising prospect and huge potential. Besides, Thailand has a strong industrial base as well as a world-class automobile manufacturing and supply base. It is an important exporter of automobiles, which is of great significance to the whole ASEAN region. GWM, as a leading Chinese automobile company, is accelerating our globalization. In the future, we will lead the transformation trend of the entire automobile industry in the direction of intelligence, network and clean. Thailand is an important part of our globalization strategy and Thai customer will become the first beneficiaries of GWM latest high-tech product.”

Ambassador H.E. Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot said, " I’m so impressive by GWM’s achievement and leading superiority in new energy vehicles and intelligent drive technology, which are just what Thai people need. GWM, as a remarkable international company, whose investment in Thailand is welcome and appreciated by the government. Thai government will give strong support to the development of GWM Thailand."

After decades of development, GWM’s global layout has begun to take shape, and has been accelerating its pace in the past two years. As a developing automobile market, Thai market is a key step for GWM to enter to ASEAN market, and an important part of GWM’s globalization strategy. On February 17, GWM and GM signed an agreement on the acquisition of the plant in Rayong, Thailand, which will help GWM develop in Thailand and the ASEAN market, as well as promoting local supply chain, R&D and developing related industry.

To correspond to Thailand 4.0 strategy, GWM has facilitated its intelligence, technologies, and digital know-how to transform and upgrade the Rayong factory, in order to play a role in benchmarking and promoting Thailand's economic transformation and upgrading, as well as enhancing its comprehensive competitiveness.
