The annual Moscow Automobile Salon (MIAS 2008) opened on August 26, 2008 at Crocus Expo IEC in Moscow, Russia. Besides the local popular SUV and pickup, several GW passenger cars are also displayed at the show.

The GW booth is the largest amongst of its aboard motor shows, covering an area of nearly 800m2. The models showed at this show is also the richest, including passenger cars, MPV, SUV, pickup, 4 categories, 9 models—Coolbear, Florid, Phenom, Mini SUV, Cowry, Gwperi, Hover, Wingle and Hover·p.

More than 13,000 units GW vehicles were exported to Russia from January to July 2008, representing an increase of approximate 71% comparing to the same period of last year. From 1 July 2008, the newly-revised imported autos homologation system was into force in Russia, increasing the homologation items from 10 to 55. However, from the point view of Mr. Xing Wenlin—vice president of GWM, GW vehicles are still promising in the Russian market: Great Wall Motor Company Limited is a multi-national corporation with 16 years of history as well as experience on manufacturing autos. It is a tendency to upgrade the auto standard in Russia and can also facilitate the development of Chinese auto. The GWM targets at the global market, hence its design, production and inspection as well are proceeded in compliance with the international level. The homologation of the exported GW vehicles to Russia for 2009 shall be completed before the end of this year.

The Moscow International Automobile Salon is the largest scale international motor show in Russia. From 2008, it is held under the patronage of the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles (OICA) and running dates of MIAS-2008 have been included into the official calendar of international motor shows. Today automotive market of Russia is placed high on the list of targeted territories and ranked as one of the most dynamically developing automotive markets worldwide. For the first time in the event history the motor show in Moscow was granted “A” category by the leading car brands' manufacturers alongside with Geneva, Paris, London, Detroit and Frankfurt motor shows. This is the fourth time for the GWM and its distributor, IRITO GROUP attending this show together.

More than 2,500 mass media came to the show to evaluate the grandiosity and scale of the national motor show. Everybody is impressed by the hot list of world debuts: Audi, BMW, Citroen, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Renault, Skoda and so on.

Today, the quality of GW vehicles has been accepted by the Russian. In the following, GWM is planning to carry out more satisfying actions to upgrade the image of Chinese autos via GW brand in Russia.
