On May 10, Wei Jianjun, Chairman of Great Wall Motors (GWM), signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Cao Hui, CEO of Fuyao Group, a globally well-known auto glass producer and supplier, at the headquarters of Great Wall Motor Company Limited. According to the agreement, both parties will proceed from the current partnership in auto glass procurement to deep cooperation in the synchronic design and development of products.

The agreement states that both parties will carry out synchronic design and development of auto glass, window frames, guide rails, auto decoration strip and weather strip etc. This means that both parties will strengthen product design and R&D to meet customer demand for higher product quality.

As early as 2002, GWM Safe SUV, which had already made a “Safe phenomenon”, began to equip with glass made by Fuyao. So far, auto glass of Fuyao has already found themselves in Haval SUV, Wingle Pickup, Florid, Great Wall C30 and Great Wall C50 etc, some of which equips with its decoration strip as well. In the future, rolling parts of Fuyao will also find places in GWM autos. To strengthen the cooperation with GWM, Fuyao Group has planned to build a plant in GWM’s spare part industry park, in Dawangdian, Xushui County, and move the latter production procedures to the plant in order to provide best real-time services to GWM.

Cao Hui said at the ceremony, GWM has been one of the most important long-term partners of Fuyao Group, Fuyao will provide all-round services in design, manufacturing and product supply, depending on its experience in synchronic design and supply for global leading auto makers.

Wei Jianjun said, there are a number of similarities between GWM and Fuyao Group as both parties make the most of their advantages by focusing on certain product categories, which is auto glass for Fuyao and SUV, Pickup and A-class cars for GWM. GWM adheres to the brand philosophy of “Focus, Dedication, Specialization”, committed to build a global leading expert brand.

As a globally well-known auto glass producer, Fuyao Group has secured the largest share on the Chinese auto glass market now and already been the second largest supplier of auto glass in the world. It has designed and developed auto glass parts for a couple of global best-selling models based on the its collaboration with GM, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Land Rover, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai and Fiat etc.
