On August 25, Great Wall Motors’ Tianjin Production Base Opening & Haval H6 Launching Ceremony was held in Tianjin Binhai New Area. According to the planning, Great Wall Motors Tianjin Plant will cover an area of 5,350 mu and own the following four functions: firstly, it will be capable of producing 400,000 vehicles; secondly, it will be capable of producing CKD/KD parts; thirdly, it will be an automotive industrial park for automotive parts and components; fourthly, it will be a production base for export logistics. After the completion of the whole project in 2015, it will be capable of producing a couple of SUV and Class B certification cars and its estimated output value will exceed RMB 100 billion.

“We will seize the opportunity to use favorable conditions to promote the development, and we will utilize Tianjin's advantages such as the densely populated talents and strong industrial base to strengthen China's automobile brand and further improve Great Wall Motors' international competition capability.", Wei Jianjun, the Chairman of Great Wall Motors expressed like this,” Our new plant is planned and constructed according to the highest standard of environmental protection and the highest technical standard as well as the standard of maximum efficiency. It will be another new milestone for Great Wall Motors after so many years of sedimentation." After its being put into service, Great Wall Motors Tianjin Plant will be one of the most important automotive enterprises in Tianjin Binhai New Area.

Over 1000 people, including officials of Tianjin municipal government, Wei Jianjun, the Chairman of Great Wall Motors, Wang Fengying, the President of Great Wall Motors, and leaders or representatives of Great Wall Motors' supporting enterprises and distributors from all over the world, as well as media reporters both here and abroad attended this ceremony and witnessed this historic moment. Great Wall Motors, after 14 years of struggles in the world, now starts its Tianjin Plant, and this not only means that its production capacity is further increased, but also expresses its determination and confidence of basing itself upon China to go global.

Basing itself upon the coastal city Tianjin to go global

Great Wall Motors is a multinational corporation owing assembly plants in over ten countries, and its products have been exported to over 100 countries. The start of the Tianjin Plant and launch of Haval H6 indicates that Great Wall Motors is taking use of the geographical economic advantages of Tianjin port and relying on the scientific and technical talents and the dense industry groups with strong foundations to promote its development, and it has a determination and confidence of going global without forgetting to keep its foothold in China. Haval H6, the first self-supporting body smart SUV produced by the Tianjin Plant, is a milestone product among so many series of products of Great Wall Motors, and it means that domestic independent brand automobile has made a substantial step for a higher level.

Great Wall Motors Tianjin Plant is situated in Tianjin Binhai New Area, and it is 20 km to the center of Tianjin's downtown, 15 km to the Tianjin Binhai International Airport, 19 km to the Tianjin Port, and 100 km to Beijing's downtown.

According to the planning, Great Wall Motors Tianjin Plant will cover an area of 5,350 mu, and it will own four functions as follows: firstly, it will be capable of producing 400,000 vehicles; secondly, it will be capable of producing CKD/KD parts; thirdly, it will be an automotive industrial park for automotive parts and components; fourthly, it will be a production base for export logistics.

What's started this time is the first phase of the project, which began its construction in 2009, and it covers an area of about 800 mu. According to the plan, its vehicle production capacity will be 200,000 sets. It owns four workshops (namely, stamping, welding, coating and assembly workshops) and living & office facilities. The first batch of new cars produced by it consists of Haval H6 and Voleex C50.

The second phase of the projects will cover an area of about 650 mu, and it will produce 200,000 vehicles every year, and it is planned to be put into production in August 2012.

The third phase of the projects will cover an area of about 3,900 mu, and supporting facilities related to the vehicles including a supporting parts and components park as well as an export logistics base will also be established. After the complete construction of the whole project in 2015, it will be capable of producing several models of SUV and Class B cars with an estimated output value of RMB 100 billion or more. Before the end of 2012, it will roll off three high-end SUV and five cars.

High-tech equipment indicates its status of a world-class auto-production base

For quite some time, Great Wall Motors carries forward the philosophy of "using high-tech equipment, supporting high-performance design, and manufacturing high-quality products" to work as a representative of outstanding enterprises with independent brands. During the construction of the Tianjin Plant, Great Wall Motors not only realizes scale enlargement, but also lays much emphasis on the improvement of quality. Many of the technologies, processes and equipment used by it not only keep ahead in the manufacturing plants in China, but also stand out in the first line of the international automobile production field.

In the four processes, namely, stamping, welding, coating and assembly, the Tianjin Plant's internally leading technology and model manufacturing workmanship are well embodied, as the most advanced and sophisticated science & technology and informationalized equipment are introduced to these four processes.　

The punching workshop adopts European technology, which is its first use in China and makes all the production lines highly automatic. The welding workshop adopts Sweden ABB production design to make its welding lines reach the highest technical standard, and the use of 23 robots ensures the quality of sheet metal components. The coating workshop adopts a mode of integrated operation of advanced equipment of U.S.A., Japan and Germany to realize automatic spraying: six YASKAWA wall-hooked automatic spraying robots can realize automatic identification, automatic color-changing and automatic spraying. The assembly workshop adopts internationally sophisticated detection equipment to ensure high-quality assembly of products in an accurate and efficient way. The use of power-assistant manipulators and electric tools reduces workers' labor intensity and increases work efficiency and assembly quality.　

With the completion of the construction of the new plant, Great Wall Motors will form a whole value-chain of nodes of "seamless link" between manufacturing, logistics, sale and horizontal division, and the surrounding logistics and parts & components suppliers will further highlight the advantage of the industry groups of the Tianjin Plant. In addition, the new plant will also have the following benefits: the Tianjin Plant, when creating more and more employment opportunities, will further promote the development of the Binhai New Area and even the whole automobile industry in Tianjin, and it is very important for the improvement of the local job-placement environment as well as the promotion of the local economic development and industrial development.

Haval H6 comes on the market and SUV leader realizes a new leap-forward development

Up to now, Great Wall Motors has had ten years of experience in SUV R&D and production, and it is praised as "SUV specialist" in the industry. From the "Safe phenomenon" initiated by Great Wall Motors in 2002 to the birth of the present self-supporting body of Urban Smart SUV-Haval H6, this 20-year enterprise has accumulated ten years of experience in SUV manufacturing.

Haval H6 is positioned as an intelligent SUV, which is embodied in intelligent safety, intelligent driving and intelligent equipment. It has undergone the production in the new world-class Tianjin Plant, strict experimental examination of international standard and reliable guarantee for high-quality provided by high-tech equipment.

As a global strategy model of car exporting to European Union, Haval H6's front suspension is of McPherson-type independent suspension, and its rear suspension is of double wishbone independent suspension. The 180mm-ground clearance is sufficient to deal with the complex traffic conditions, and this guarantees the comfortability and sound roadability. In terms of intelligent equipment, Haval H6 is equipped with CAN-BUS intelligent network control system, GPS intelligent voice navigation system, on-board trip computer, BAS intelligent braking subsystem, intelligent tire pressure monitoring system and reversing camera system. Performance increases substantially

On August 19, Great Wall Motors (2333) published its interim report on its performance in Hong Kong, and in the first half year it realized an operating income of RMB 136,690 million, with a YoY increase of 49.8%.The earnings per share on the stock market is RMB 0.66, and its YoY increase is 106.3%. Great Wall Motors' operation is stable, its own fund is sound, and it has remained a high profit-making performance over 20 years. It is the main force of automobile brand with the biggest potential, and its development potential has obtained the affirmation of international capital market.

The sales volumes from January to July show that the number of China's passenger cars increases by 5.89% YoY, and Great Wall Motors realizes a YoY increase of 37%, among which Haval SUV's YoY increase is 7.5%, and the YoY increase of C50 Voleex is 95.9%, while the YoY increase of Wingle pick-ups is 19.6%. 39,400 Great Wall Motors were exported during this period, with a YoY increase of 20.1%. In July, the YoY increase of sale volume of Great Wall Motors decreased than the YoY increase of sale volume in the same period of the last year, however it still realized a YoY increase rate of 17.3%, greatly exceeding the increase rate in the industry, becoming one of the brands with the maximum and most rapid increase.

Now, at the moment when the Tianjin Plant just starts and Haval H6 rolls off, Great Wall Motors staffs are eager for going all out. It is learned that during the period when Haval H6 comes into the market, 2012 Voleex C30 and 2012 Haval H5 and other competitive products will also flock into the market. It is planned to bring Voleex C50 and Voleex C20R into the market.
