On July 15, Great Wall Motors and the Valeo Group, the French automotive parts manufacturing giant, signed a strategic partnership agreement at Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. Under the agreement, both sides will enhance cooperation in regard to established areas including windshield wipers, generators, starters, and clutches; and on this basis, expand technical exchange and cooperation on powertrain components, visual systems, thermal systems, driver assistance systems and other areas. In addition, the two sides will maintain regular communication between their senior management and establish an information sharing platform in order to continuously strengthen the relationship, all aspects of the development of a strategic partnership, and reach consensus.

Since 2005, Valeo began supporting the Great Wall Wingle with windshield wipers, and the Great Wall GW491QE model engines with generators and starters. As of 2011, both sides were discussing a partnership in areas including clutches and dual mass flywheels. In regard to this partnership with Valeo, Great Wall Motors Chairman Wei Jianjun said: "In the past, partnerships between Great Wall Motors and Valeo have been extremely effective and mutually beneficial; in the future, we hope to build a broader, deeper and closer partnership between both sides."
